Apple has announced a macOS update focused on privacy. The system now shows in more detail when and why apps access the camera, microphone, files and location.

What changed

  • A new section in Settings with an access report for the last 7 days.
  • The option to give an app access to selected folders only, instead of the whole disk.
  • Reminders when an app you haven’t used in a while still holds permissions.

Why it matters

Most people never revisit the permissions they once granted. The new reminders make that easy: a few taps are enough to remove access an app no longer needs.

The update is rolling out gradually. You can check for it in System Settings → General → Software Update.
